Cerec - One Visit Dentistry

We have a new toy!

The Happy Tooth is always trying to keep up with modern technology and have upgraded one of our machines to the Cerec Milling Unit. If you have had a crown made in the past, you would know the long process of having to have a bulky temporary in for up to 2 weeks while your crown is being designed in a lab off site. The Happy Tooth offers SINGLE VISIT crowns!! What does this mean? It means we can scan, design and mill your crown all in house on the same day, so there is no need for a second appointment. You will walk in for your preparation and walk out with a brand new crown! If this is something that interest you, please call the surgery on (02) 4991 5000 to arrange a consultation.

The team celebrates another milestone

Surgical Draping

Implementing and maintaining a sterile field in the work place

In the Dental practice setting up and maintaining a sterile field is apparent for both patient care and treatment success.

We always aim to stay on top of changes to the guidelines and within the industry.

On Friday Stephanie and Zoe participated in a Surgical Draping course. Thank you to Cathy Schafer from C & L Dental Education Consultants for such an informative and hands on presentation.

All donations are appreciated.

Battlezone - Maitland Goal

Team building Laser Tag

The team had a wonderful afternoon out at Battlezone - Maitland Goal!

Communication and team work were put to the test to ensure we achieved our mission objectives.

With full aces to the goal, team members were scaling stair ways and hiding in prison cells.

We all learned new skills and were put out of our comfort zone in terms of managing adrenaline and working on ambush techniques.

Our communication was put to the test when we had to hold and secure a site, big congratulations to the red team for taking out the challenge.

If you are looking of a fun day out or some where to take the family, we would defiantly recommend Ballezone for all ages.

Check out their web site for session times and pricing:

Project Yeti - Nepal Dental Aid Mission 2017

nepal4 (2).jpg

Belinda and Layla headed off on a life changing experience to Nepal in 2017. They worked with Project Yeti as Dental Aid for two weeks at the Kopan Monastery.

During their time at the Monastery; the girls got to experience the Buddhist religion, strict routine for the Monks and the Monastic lifestyle. The girls are very thankful to all the Patients at The Happy Tooth, the Kurri local community/business and Dr David Ward, that made generous donations to help get them there.

“Real happiness in life starts when you begin to cherish others.”

LJ Hooker Cessnock & Kurri Kurri hosted their annual Pimp My Bra!
For the month of October their office raised funds for breast cancer. Staff members Zoe and Kayla bedazzled a bra, and made it dental related!

This year, we will again be collecting any non-perishable foods for Samaritans to help families and individuals enjoy a special Christmas meal.If you have some food at home that you know will just go to waste, why not drop it into the surgery. All contributions big or small are very much appreciated.

"Sugar High" at The 2017 St Phillip's Christian College Spring Fair

Mother Nature turned it on for the 2017 St Phillip's Christian College Spring Fair.

The team were busy preparing and selling Fairy floss with the important message that you need to floss your teeth.

Did you know that if you do not floss, you miss cleaning over 35% of a tooth surface!!!

For every "bad" floss purchased, customers received "good" floss in a show bag with a complimentary toothbrush.

We look forward to seeing you all at the 2018 Spring Fair.

The Team lend a helping "Paw"

Did you know that the funds raised from RSPCA Cupcake Day help rescue, rehabilitate, and re home the 135,000 animals that come through RSPCA shelters every year!!!

All of us here at The Happy Tooth had a blast making and preparing "Paw" cupcakes for the 2017 Cupcake day.

We would like to thank our Patients and the local business on Vincent Street for their support.

STOMP Festival 2017

On Sunday 23rd April, the staff at The Happy Tooth and the Tooth fairy attended the Cessnock Stomp Festival.
We had a stall making fairy floss for a gold coin donation; all money raised is being donated to The Mai-Wel Group, a local organisation who provides opportunity to people with a disability or disadvantage.
With the help of the community we have managed to raise $800 for the Mai-Wel Group.
We all had such a great time at the Stomp festival and wished to thank everyone who came out on the day and helped us to support our local community.
Such a fun day and we cannot wait until next year!

Avoid Traumatic Dental Injuries – Wear a Mouthguard.

Mouthguards can protect you from some serious sporting injuries, such as broken jaws, fractured, cracked or knocked-out teeth, cut lips and tongues. You can play any sport with a mouthguard, you don’t just have to be playing obvious contact sports like rugby union, rugby league, AFL, hockey, etc to sustain those kinds of injuries. Even non-contact sports like cricket, basketball and even netball, carry a real risk of accidental collision, resulting in dental trauma.

If you have braces it is highly recommended to wear a mouthguard to avoid grazes or serious injuries to the lip, cheek and tongue.

Mariah has recently completed a training course – Modern Mouthguards presented by Dr Brett Dorney. This hands on practical course will ensure that your mouthguard is made with special moulding techniques to minimise impact.

About Dr Dorney;
Dr Dorney has been awarded fellowships from The Academy for Sports Dentistry, the International College of Dentists and the Academy of Dentistry International and has also been lecturing for 20years in Australia and overseas on Prevention and Treatment of Traumatic Dental Injuries.

Qualified staff equals a better experience

Here at The Happy Tooth we encourage all our staff to participate in continuing education. By having qualified, trained and experienced staff we are ensuring that you have a better experience and spend less time at the Dentist.

Working closely with qualified mentors, State Training and O.T.E.N (TAFE NSW), staff are ensuring that not only are they receiving an education but are obtaining skills that will contribute to their careers in the Dental Industry.

We would like to extend our congratulations to our staff who have recently obtained Certificate’s and Qualifications.
