"Sugar High" at The 2017 St Phillip's Christian College Spring Fair

Mother Nature turned it on for the 2017 St Phillip's Christian College Spring Fair.

The team were busy preparing and selling Fairy floss with the important message that you need to floss your teeth.

Did you know that if you do not floss, you miss cleaning over 35% of a tooth surface!!!

For every "bad" floss purchased, customers received "good" floss in a show bag with a complimentary toothbrush.

We look forward to seeing you all at the 2018 Spring Fair.

The Team lend a helping "Paw"

Did you know that the funds raised from RSPCA Cupcake Day help rescue, rehabilitate, and re home the 135,000 animals that come through RSPCA shelters every year!!!

All of us here at The Happy Tooth had a blast making and preparing "Paw" cupcakes for the 2017 Cupcake day.

We would like to thank our Patients and the local business on Vincent Street for their support.

STOMP Festival 2017

On Sunday 23rd April, the staff at The Happy Tooth and the Tooth fairy attended the Cessnock Stomp Festival.
We had a stall making fairy floss for a gold coin donation; all money raised is being donated to The Mai-Wel Group, a local organisation who provides opportunity to people with a disability or disadvantage.
With the help of the community we have managed to raise $800 for the Mai-Wel Group.
We all had such a great time at the Stomp festival and wished to thank everyone who came out on the day and helped us to support our local community.
Such a fun day and we cannot wait until next year!

Avoid Traumatic Dental Injuries – Wear a Mouthguard.

Mouthguards can protect you from some serious sporting injuries, such as broken jaws, fractured, cracked or knocked-out teeth, cut lips and tongues. You can play any sport with a mouthguard, you don’t just have to be playing obvious contact sports like rugby union, rugby league, AFL, hockey, etc to sustain those kinds of injuries. Even non-contact sports like cricket, basketball and even netball, carry a real risk of accidental collision, resulting in dental trauma.

If you have braces it is highly recommended to wear a mouthguard to avoid grazes or serious injuries to the lip, cheek and tongue.

Mariah has recently completed a training course – Modern Mouthguards presented by Dr Brett Dorney. This hands on practical course will ensure that your mouthguard is made with special moulding techniques to minimise impact.

About Dr Dorney;
Dr Dorney has been awarded fellowships from The Academy for Sports Dentistry, the International College of Dentists and the Academy of Dentistry International and has also been lecturing for 20years in Australia and overseas on Prevention and Treatment of Traumatic Dental Injuries.

Qualified staff equals a better experience

Here at The Happy Tooth we encourage all our staff to participate in continuing education. By having qualified, trained and experienced staff we are ensuring that you have a better experience and spend less time at the Dentist.

Working closely with qualified mentors, State Training and O.T.E.N (TAFE NSW), staff are ensuring that not only are they receiving an education but are obtaining skills that will contribute to their careers in the Dental Industry.

We would like to extend our congratulations to our staff who have recently obtained Certificate’s and Qualifications.

Fighting Hunger at Christmas

This year The Happy Tooth provided assistance to Samaritans,  participating in their Emergency Relief program.

Each month Samaritans provides more than 1,000 families with emergency assistance and relief throughout the Hunter Valley and Central Coast regions.

Our aim was to ensure that no family in Cessnock, went hungry this Christmas. Non perishable food was collected over a number of weeks at our Reception counter.

We would like to thank all of our Staff  for their kind and generous donations. Hopefully this has made Christmas, a little bit brighter for families in need.

Cedar Creek Wombat Rescue Donation

Over the weekend Dr Alexys Ward and some of our awesome Happy Tooth dental assistants traveled out to the Cedar Creek Wombat Rescue in Wollombi to visit the adorable wombats and incredible wombat carers that live there.

Our Happy Tooth staff learnt all about the incredible work that Roz & Kev do to help the wombats that come to them from far and wide and even got to nurse some babies at feeding time too!
The Happy Tooth raised funds for the Wombat Hospital at this year’s St Phillips Spring Fair which meant that we were able to present Cedar Creek Wombat Rescue with a cheque on the weekend for $450 to help them continue their much needed work.
We had so much fun on the day and we look forward to when we get to go back and visit again.

The Happy Tooth’s Superhero Week Sausage Sizzle

Here at The Happy Tooth we are proud active members of the community and always jump at the chance to support charities and community groups within the area.

The Happy Tooth Cessnock held a a sausage sizzle for Superhero Week to raise funds for Bear Cottage who provide support, respite and end-of-life care for children with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

The Happy Tooth strongly supports Bear Cottage and the incredible services they provide to families and children. Not every child is lucky enough to be born healthy so having a facility like Bear Cottage is a cause they are passionate to support.

Dr Alexys Ward says participating in charity work as a business is about creating awareness for issues that they feel strongly about and being able to get the local community involved in the support of these causes. It is also about building stronger relationships with other businesses such as Old Mates Bakery and Barry’s Quality Meats who generously donated for the initiative.

“Undertaking a Sausage Sizzle seemed like something different we could do to raise money for such a wonderful cause”.
